I am very impressed with your customer service.  I was worried about getting my order with a marathon a week and a half out.  Wow, less than 24 hours and my order was sitting on the porch.  That is phenominal service.  I will definately shop with you again.  I have had free shipping take 10 days.  Proline Sports Nutrition is a site I will recommend to my many running/cycling buddies.  Thanks for the great response.  BTW, that info on the Hammer Nutrition products was wonderful!!  It helped me hone in on my nutrition/hydration plan for my marathon.  I printed off the entire 120 pages!  This is my 4th marathon.  I've trained hard, and my Hammer plan I do believe will give me a PR.

SDC Nutrition About Time 100% Whey Protein Isolate 2lb

The two most common forms of whey powder are "isolates" and "concentrates" and the type you choose makes the difference between an average supplement and a superior one. Those in the industry understand that isolates are the superior protein. Whey concentrates contain less protein and more ingredients that are not desirable, like lactose and fat. The cleaner profile in isolates is more conducive to adding muscle and losing weight. Not all isolates are the same. Please take heed to other isoaltes on the market loaded with artificial sweeteners, such as sucralose.

    FAQ's
Is there a difference between whey protein concentrate and isolate?

Yes, there is a significant difference between the two. Whey protein isolate is the purest form of whey protein. It contains 90% or more protein and very little (if any) fat and lactose. Whey protein concentrate are loaded with fat and lactose, and as the protein level in whey protein concentrate decreases the amounts of fat and/or lactose usually increase.

    Why do I need protein?

We all need protein, whether it's for post workout recovery for those who workout( amino acids make up protein, and protein makes up muscle). People do not gain muscle while working out! During a workout we are actually tearing the muscle down, and then if properly given the right amount of protein the muscle repairs itself while outside of the gym.

As we get older, it is proven that we lose muscle mass. This is why it is important for people who are aging to have enough protein in their diet. Having enough protein in your diet will help slow the rate at which you lose muscle mass.

Amino acids in protein are also important to help support a healthy immune system.

For those trying to LOSE WEIGHT, protein is their best friend. Not only can protein supplements be used as low calorie snacks or meal replacements, but it does a lot to your hormonal landscape. Protein raises Glucagon levels (fat burning hormone) and reduces Ghrelin levels (hormone that stimulates appetite).

How are essential and non-essential amino acids different?

The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods. Protein sources that contain all of the essential amino acids are called complete proteins. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein. Examples of incomplete proteins are nuts and beans.

Is whey protein a good idea when on a low-carbohydrate diet?

Yes. Whey protein is not only compatible with low-carbohydrate diets it is essential. Adding a protein shake or two to your diet when keeping carbs low will help you feel full. Make sure you select a whey protein isolate which provides high quality protein without the carbohydrates and fat often limited in low carbohydrate diets.

Will whey protein help me lose weight?

Adding whey protein to the diet is a great way to jump-start a weight loss program. Whey protein is a key ingredient in numerous weight loss and meal replacement products and whey protein isolate (with no fat or carbohydrates) is often the preferred choice. Research is very conclusive that individuals who combine diets rich protein foods, like whey protein, and exercise have more lean muscle tissue and they lose more body fat. As they lose fat their metabolic rate increases and they actually burn more calories each day. Another way that whey protein helps manage weight is by promoting satiety, or a feeling of fullness.

Is whey protein a good protein choice following bariatric weight loss surgery?

Following bariatric surgery it is important to follow a diet that your doctor or nutrition specialist recommends. Protein usually plays an essential role in that diet as it is the primary food source following surgery. Whey protein isolate is an excellent protein choice post surgery because it is very easy to digest and efficiently absorbed into the body. It doesn't sit in the stomach for long periods of time like beef and other protein foods that may cause problems.

What's the difference between whey and soy protein?

Whey protein is a complete protein, and are rich in BCAA's and has a quicker absorption rate. Whey also does not contain isoflavons which have potential hormonal effects.

How much fat and cholesterol are in whey protein?

This depends on the type of whey protein (isolate or concentrate) and also the brand of each. A good quality whey isolate will usually have less than a milligram of cholesterol.

Should I avoid whey if I am lactose intolerant?

People with lactose intolerance should only select a high quality, pure whey isolate. A pure whey isolate has less than .1 gram of lactose per 20 grams (a standard serving of whey is 28 grams).

Can I use whey protein if I am a vegetarian?

Yes, whey comes from milk, so is suitable for vegetarians that include dairy in their diets.

    Does whey protein contain gluten?

No, pure whey does not contain any gluten.

Is whey protein safe for pregnant women and children?

Yes, whey protein is a great source of high quality complete protein for healthy pregnant women and children as long as they are not allergic to dairy. The second most abundant component in whey protein is alpha-lactalbumin, which is one of the main whey proteins in human breast milk. Also, infant formulas often contain whey, but both pregnant women and parents of young children should consult with their physician before adding whey to their diets.

Finally, what should I look for when selecting a whey isolate?

There are some advanced procedures like cross flow microfiltration that lead to a higher quality whey with added benefits over ion-exchange whey isolate in preserving key microfractions which are essential to its benefits. Whey protein isolate that is not heat treated contains these key microfractions like alpha lactalbumin and glycomacropeptides which can both positively support immune function. Most of the whey protein on the market is usually found as ion-exchange, a process where electric charges are used to extract the protein. We strongly recommend a cold pressed ultra microfiltration whey isolate.

Whey Protein Powder for 60 and above
Many studies show that muscle loss is not necessarily a mandatory requirement of aging when adequate protein is part of the diet, and studies show signs of protein synthesis occurring in elderly individuals following ingestion of a high quality whey protein supplement. This is very important because most elderly people do not eat enough protein in their diets, and therefore suffer from muscle loss and weaker immune systems that could ultimately be offset with proper protein supplementation. Although we can't stop the aging process, we can slow down the rate at which we lose muscle mass as we get older. Maintaining muscle mass may be the difference in having a serious injury or a minor injury in the event of an accident or fall.
    Whey Protein Powder for athletes
One of the most popular sports supplements ever created is whey protein. Nothing helps muscle recovery like a healthy dose of amino acids. It's not realistic to think we can carry around food to eat after a workout or sporting event. However, it is important to take in a quality protein after strenuous exercise. This is why whey protein supplements are so popular among athletes. Taking a protein shake with you to the gym or athletic field is a quick and easy way to ensure you can get the proper nutrients at the proper time.

Most weight lifters know that muscle does not grow while in the gym. We actually tear our muscle tissue down in the gym. How effectively our body repairs that muscle tissue depends on proper nutrition and supplementation. The most important time to take in a high quality whey protein supplement is within 40 minutes after a workout or strenuous activity. This is when we can take full advantage of protein synthesis and prime our bodies for recovery. It is also important to supply amino acids to our muscles every couple of hours. Again, this is where the convenience of whey protein supplements come in handy; they are great for supplying our muscles the amino acids needed for recovery between meals or prior to bed.

As an athlete, there are many ways to use a whey protein supplement to reach different fitness goals. Please feel free to contact us with questions regarding your protein supplementation.

    Whey Protein Powder for women
One of the most common questions among women when talking about whey protein supplements is in relation to gaining weight or growing big muscles. Actually, there is no better way to lose weight or tone your muscles than by properly using a whey protein supplement.

Protein boosts your metabolism, which is the rate at which your body burns food for energy. If you think about adding coal to a fire, the more coal you add, the hotter and faster the fire burns. This is what occurs when you add protein to your body; the more protein you consume, the faster your metabolism, and the more calories you burn.

Protein also promotes lean muscle mass. This doesn't mean you will grow large muscles, but that muscles will become toned and sculpted. You must understand that our muscles are made up of proteins and by supplementing with a high quality whey isolate you will increase lean muscle tissue, recover from exercise quicker, and boost your metabolism.

    Why a whey protein supplement?

    • It's a good way to consume a good quality protein without consuming extra carbs and calories.
    • The convenience of being able to take a shake on the go is conducive to fast paced lifestyles.
    • Reduces snacking at home or hitting the vending machine in the office.
    • Is a great between meal snack.
    Whey Protein Powder for teenagers
Most teens do not get adequate amounts of proteins in their diets. It is very important that we explain to our teens the importance of proper nutrition, especially the importance of high quality proteins. These are the greatest years of bone growth, hormonal change, and emotional stress. Many teens are involved in athletics which further stresses their musculoskeletal system; by taking in adequate amounts of protein, teens can reduce the negative effects of these stressors.

One way to get teens to consume more protein is by supplementing with a high quality whey isolate. The key to this is finding one that tastes great, so they feel they are getting a nutritious treat.
